FIBERTEC offers an extensive line of glass
fiber, slag wool fiber, wollastonite, mica
filler and reinforcements. Our wollastonite and mica are from high
purity sources and are virtually contaminant free. All products
are available untreated or surface treated. In addition to a
number of industry standard surface treatments, we will custom
surface treat to your specifications. We also offer a full array
of standard packaging or we will custom package to meet your
material handling requirements. Our lead times are normally less
than two weeks and our prices are competitive or better. Before
selecting your filler or reinforcement supplier, check out Fibertecs standard and custom array of high quality products,
short lead times and very competitive prices. Specifically, we
offer the following products for your consideration.
Our glass
fiber reinforcements are 10 or 16 microns in
diameter and milled to lengths ranging from 120 to
470 microns. They are used in composites to increase
mechanical properties such as tensile, flexural and
impact strength. They are also used to increase
dimensional stability and minimize distortion at
elevated temperatures. Milled glass fibers are
compatible with all thermoset and thermoplastics
resins. Surface treatments may enhance performance.
Fibertecs
wollastonite products come in powder and fiber
grades. Powder grades tend to be used as fillers in
coatings, adhesives, sealants and paints. It is an
inert material with an alkaline pH that improves
toughness, weather resistance and moisture
absorption. Powders, while having some aspect ratio,
all tend to be 325 mesh. Fiber grades have a
diameter ranging from 5 to 15 microns and aspect
ratios from 15 to 20. They are most commonly used as
a lower cost, lower performance replacement for
milled fibers in composites. They are compatible
with all resins and may be surface treated.
Our mica
products are muscovite platelets. They are 200
mesh in size, compatible with all resins and may be
surface treated. Mica is used in composites to
control shrink and warp in large, thin parts. It
also makes an excellent barrier coatings in
corrosive environments.
Our slag
fiber (mineral wool) is a synthetic vitreous fiber
(SVF) used as a functional component in
transportation friction materials as an asbestos
replacement. Mineral wool is also used in gaskets,
adhesives and sealants. It can also be used as a
reinforcements in plastic resin systems. Mineral
wool fibers have an average diameter of 6 microns
and range in length from 125 to 200 microns. They
can be surface treated to improve performance.
